Somehow, Nancy and I have managed to not get hooked on Game of Thrones - we've not seen a single episode - we know how easily we could get hooked if we were to start - so many episodes, so little time. For those of you who have already taken that bait, you should know that "Kings Landing" is really Dubrovnic, Croatia. Consequently there are multiple shops and walking tours throughout the Old Town devoted to fans of this popular series. Here are some photos we took of places where filming was done [see Greta's Travels for more info on the filming sites]. The "Red Keep" is really Lovrijenac Fort (upper left of photo) - taken here from the southwest corner of the City Walls. The inlet to the right of the photo served as "Blackwater Bay" and "King's Landing Harbour". The section of the City Wall to the right of the photo was "Fort Bokar". Cersei's naked "Walk of Shame" started at the top of these stairs - the Jesuit Staircase. The interior of the Rector's Palace served as the "Spice King's Palace in Quarth" These circular stairs were the site of a protest speech against the Lannisters. Pile Gate - with its drawbridge - and Plice Gate are the two entrances to the walled city. Both were used prominently in the filming. Minceta Tower was the "House of the Undying". Here's a bird's eye view of "Kings Landing" from the City Walls. Lokrum Island off in the distance was also used for several scenes.
